Should I get this Trek 7.3FX 15″ frame bike, even though it looks like it’s for women?
I’m looking to buy a Trek 7.3 FX road bike for city biking. However, the Trek bikes all come in 15-inch and 17.5-inch models (and bigger). Since I’m a short male (5’5″), my balls are sitting right on the top bar of the 17.5 model when I stand up (there’s maybe 5mm of clearance). The 15-inch model’s top bar inclines down dramatically, like a woman’s bike. See:

That’s actually a woman’s bike, but the 15-inch model looks exactly like that.
Which should I buy? Which should I value more, my balls or my dignity?
Yes, the *15-inch* frame men’s version looks like the women’s version. The 17.5-inch and larger frames have a more horizontal frame.
No, I don’t ride with my feet on the ground, but for emergency brakes where I come off my seat and my fit hit the ground, having crotch clearance is important, right?
I have that same bike in the 17.5, and I’m 5’6″. I barely clear the cross bar in shoes, but lacking balls, I don’t quite have the issue you do. Anyway, I think the 15″ is going to be too small for you, and assuming that you don’t plan to spend a lot of time standing over the crossbar, I’d stay with the bigger frame.
